Podcast Episode 20

Welcome to our Halloween episode. We know that Halloween is still a few days away, but we won’t be doing the podcast on Halloween, so deal with it. In this episode we start with an email from Chance, our #1 fan. If you want to rile Rhett, compliment Jason, works every time. Jason then opens the discussion with the original descriptions of Dracula as written by Bram Stoker and Frankenstein’s monster as written by Mary Shelley. We then talk about how the authors’ original vision differs from what we have come to expect in television, movies, and other media. Then Rhett takes us back to some great monster movies from the 80’s: Monster Squad, the original Evil Dead franchise, and others. Finally, on our next bout in the Battle of the Legendary Legends, we pit Doctor Strange, The Sorcerer Supreme, against Deadpool, The Merc with the Mouth. To find out who we picked as the winner you’ll have to listen. Let us know who you think would win that Battle Royale by commenting on our Twitter account or our blog.

If there are any topics relating to nerd culture or you have an idea for a Battle Royale match-up, let us know and we will discuss it on the podcast.

Podcast Episode 19

On tonight’s episode we have a great time listening to Rhett blow his nose, (he has a cold). We also discuss the Borderlands 2 Loot Hunt. Jason has been playing Borderlands 2 for the Loot Hunt. He discusses the various aspects that he likes, (going after some of the bosses again), and the things that he doesn’t like, (going after powerful enemies with underpowered weapons). If nothing else it is an interesting way to involve the community. Rhett then explains his stance on multi-player games versus single player games. We have nothing against multi-player, but should multi-player be more important than the single player? We end the podcast with the next Battle Royale round of our Legendary Battle of the Legendary Legends. Tonight, Aquaman versus Captain Marvel aka Shazam. We picked our winner, let us know what you think by commenting on our Twitter account or our blog.

Podcast Episode 18

Tonight on our podcast Rhett opens up with news about about the mental age of the average internet user and how the creator of Bioshock feels outraged at the nude pictures of Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite. Remember people, Rule 34. It is disgusting, but there you go. We talk Agents of SHIELD, the new TV show from Marvel and ABC. The action is good, but the writing feels a little campy. Rhett admits that he stopped watching the third episode because he got bored. We also talk Sleepy Hollow, so far a good show. Last Man Standing with Tim Allen, pretty funny, but a little preachy. Our discussion then leads us to the movie Epic. According to him, Epic is a horrible movie that beats us about the head with a message on society’s romantic view of balance in nature. Nature is a New Jersey mobster. Basically, there is no balance and every living thing out there is looking to fight, eat, or mate with everything else out there. Humans just tend to be better at it. That’s what it takes to be top predator. We end the podcast with the next fight in our Battle Royale tournament: Luke Cage versus Wolverine. Don’t think that just because Wolverine is the popular hero that he automatically wins. Luke Cage is definitely no light weight in this battle to the death. Podcast Episode 17

We are late this week and Jason takes the blame. He doesn’t really mind. During our new episode we answer fan mail. That is singular not plural. Chance, we love you man. We also give a shout out to Ricky and his Kickstarter, Zombies Hate Kung Fu. Rhett then starts out the episode with Attack on Titan, a post-apocalyptic anime. Giant titans bent on destroying humanity. Jason then discusses video game development and the learning curve that those older gamers out there were privileged to go through. How we cut our teeth on the likes of Pong and the older games and when we pick up a game now our instinct kick in. Our Battle Royale this week kicks off our championship bracket. We have put together a bracket of 32 heroes and villains from the Marvel and DC universes. Some of the brackets are exciting and interesting, some are a little unbalanced, but take a look. This week’s match-up Silver Surfer versus Green Arrow, we’ll let you guess how that one went. Let us know what you think by commenting on our Twitter account or our blog.
